Join The Gathering and The Teresa Fry Brown Women's Preaching and Leadership Institute for a time of learning, empowerment and exposure to academic scholarship, as we explore a womanist hermeneutic of wholeness. We will begin at 5:30 PM on Friday evening, July 27, with Rev. Dr. Tamara Lewis, Associate Professor, History of Christianity at Perkins School of Theology - Southern Methodist University in Dallas, as she presents "Women's Preaching in the Early Church."
On Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 AM, we will engage in thoughtful discussion, workshops and learning labs to do the critical theological reflection and examination of how women in the early church cultivated, organized and defined "wholeness" as leaders in the church - whether they were proclaiming the word of God through the preached word, through music, or through other liturgical ways.
The event concludes with a closing worship celebration where participants will have an opportunity to serve as leaders.
The Institute will be held in Dallas at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside Drive. Lite refreshments will be provided on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday. This event is for seminarians, clergy, and lay leaders. To register, click here.
